Under the name “Samen Vaals” local entrepreneurs are supported by means of promotions and advertisements. Vaals offers a wide variety of businesses. From small exclusive shops to large chain stores: shopping in Vaals stands for a diversified array of commerce, shopping convenience and quality. Furthermore, there is a variety of (regional) products, delicious eateries and terraces at beautiful spots. Business and personal services, from cleaning to car repair, and wellness or medical assistance are also part of the landscape.
This variety requires comprehensive communication. Not only the local clothing store, but also the physiotherapist and hairdresser must be promoted. The logo and all other forms of communication therefore had to radiate unity. We came up with the ‘Samen Vaals hartje (/heart)’, an icon that is the result of merging the S and the V. Together the entrepreneurs form the beating heart of this small town and vice versa, the heart of Samen Vaals beats for all Vaals’ entrepreneurs.
We made various items in which the heart icon was consistently implemented and we introduced a number of smart tools to benefit all Vaals’ entrepreneurs. Such as the ‘Samen Vaals cadeaubon’ (gift voucher), which turned out to be a hit. This gift voucher can be redeemed at all affiliated entrepreneurs. So it does not only serve for a pair of new shoes, but also for a bicycle repair or to pay the local bookkeeper. This way we make sure that the inhabitants shop locally and do not spend their money in the neighboring cities.
In the overall design, we opted for a bold and unique color scheme. We selected four eye-catching colors that portray the versatility of the small town.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We also used photography to embellish our analogue and digital items. We have made Vaals visible in a unique way. No images of the main street, large chains or shops and the famous three-country border attraction, but photos of less known spots. Places that distinguish Vaals from the surrounding towns. This way we try to trigger people to visit this unique part of the Netherlands.
